he gloated, waving the signed bank documents in her face.

Clara calmly reached into her leather briefcase and pulled out a sealed folder of her own. She slid a single sheet of paper out and held it up for Sterling to see. It was a corporate acquisition contract, signed and stamped just an hour prior.

"You're right, Sterling. Your firm did buy his debt,"

Clara said with a razor-sharp smile.

"But what you didn't realize is that my investment group just purchased eighty percent of your development firm's parent company. As of ten minutes ago, I am your majority shareholder. And my first official act as your boss is to fire you for unethical conduct."

Sterling’s face drained of color as his phone began to ring furiously in his pocket. He pulled it out, his hands shaking as his secretary confirmed the devastating news. With his career ruined and his authority stripped away, the humiliated developer turned and fled, his guards trailing quietly behind him.

Turning back to Samuel, Clara knelt down once more and handed him a new set of keys, along with the deed to the property, completely free of any debt. She had already arranged for a brand new, modern ice cream parlor to be built on the very spot where his cart had stood.
