Previously: When the prison's most feared giant cornered Paige in the yard, he expected her to beg for mercy. Instead, she stood her ground and delivered a shocking truth.

The Warden's Legacy

Before Garrett's fist could descend, a sharp, authoritative voice cut through the heavy air of the yard.

"Step back, Garrett! Hands on your head, now!"

The gate to the inner block slammed open, and a squad of heavily armed tactical guards poured into the yard, led by the new, uncorrupted Warden. They didn't target Paige; instead, they immediately surrounded Garrett.

Paige smiled. She hadn't come to Blackwood alone. She had spent the last six months working secretly with the federal authorities, feeding them the encryption keys to the ledger she had found in her father's old study. The arrest warrant had just been approved, and the raid was timed perfectly to her confrontation.

Garrett looked around in utter disbelief as the handcuffs were slapped onto his thick wrists. The giant who had ruled the yard with fear was brought to his knees, stripped of his power in front of the very inmates he had terrorized.

As they dragged him away, Garrett looked back at Paige, his face filled with defeat.

"You set me up," he muttered.
"No," Paige said softly, watching him go. "I just delivered justice."

The yard fell into a respectful silence as Paige turned and walked back toward the cells, no longer a target, but a hero. She had cleared her father's name and dismantled the corruption that had plagued Blackwood for a decade.

True strength is not measured by the size of one's muscles, but by the depth of one's courage to stand up for the truth, no matter the odds.
