The Executive Boardroom

The towering obsidian and chrome boardroom of a Silicon Valley aerospace megatower hummed with a sterile, cold energy. Outside, torrential rain beat against the panoramic floor-to-ceiling glass, the distant rumble of thunder a low vibration beneath our feet. Holographic orbital displays cast a cold cobalt light across the polished surfaces, illuminating the sterile gleam of server racks and the quiet hiss of air-filtration vents. It was a monument to power, and soon, I intended for it to be mine.

I, Julian, stood with an air of arrogance that belied my years. My Italian bespoke suit was impeccable, the diamond Rolex on my wrist a statement of wealth. Across from me sat Damian Knox, the billionaire magnate whose healthcare empire was as vast as it was feared. He was immaculate in charcoal pinstripes, his silver-streaked hair slicked back, his jaw set like granite.

But the focal point, the man I intended to dispose of, was my grandfather, Maya. Eighty-two years old, he was a hunched figure in a frayed wool trench coat, his weathered skin like old leather, scarred hands trembling. His rheumy eyes, however, still held a piercing steel-blue intensity. He remained silent, a statue of resignation.

With a deliberate, aggressive motion, I slammed a biometric asylum remand tablet onto the obsidian table. The screen flared to life, illuminating the air with cyan holographic text. "Lock this senile burden into your sub-level asylum, Knox," I sneered, my voice laced with a cruel, breathless intensity. "His pension and penthouse are mine now." My grandfather said nothing, his eyelids lowering in resigned heartbreak, a single tear glistening on his lower lid. It was the sound of defeat, and it was music to my ears.

Knox leaned forward, his eyes suddenly fixed on something beneath my grandfather's collar. His pupils dilated, his breath hitched. His gaze locked onto an antique brass Medal of Honor. "That insignia... Task Force Omega... General Maya?" he whispered, his voice choked with a sudden, paralyzing shock. I remained impassive, raising an arrogant eyebrow, enjoying his perceived hesitation. He had no idea who he was dealing with, or rather, who he *thought* he was dealing with.
