Previously: When Charles adopted young orphan Olivia to help his paralyzed daughters walk again, he didn't expect her to uncover the dark household secret keeping them bound to their wheelchairs.

A Miracle Born of Love

Terrified but quick on her feet, Olivia dodged Beatrice’s grasp, slipping under her arm and sprinting down the hallway. She dashed into the girls' playroom, slamming the door shut and sliding the heavy wooden latch just as Beatrice threw her weight against it. Ella and Nora looked up in terror from their wheelchairs as the wood splintered under Beatrice's furious blows.

"She's trying to keep you sick!" Olivia cried out, holding up the stolen documents. "She's been putting medicine in your tea so you can't walk!"

Before the girls could fully process the shock, the lock gave way. Beatrice burst into the room, her face twisted in rage. Ignoring the sisters, she lunged directly at Olivia, grabbing her by the collar and raising the heavy brass candle holder high into the air. In that moment of absolute terror, a miracle happened. Fueled by a desperate instinct to save the girl who had brought light back into their lives, Ella gripped the arms of her wheelchair. With a supreme effort of will, she stood up on her own two feet and threw herself forward, tackling Beatrice to the ground.

Nora, seeing her sister stand, felt a surge of adrenaline that shattered her own psychological chains. She, too, stood up, rushing to pull Olivia away from the struggle. Just then, the front doors slammed open below. Charles, alerted by a silent security alarm Olivia had tripped in Beatrice's room, rushed into the playroom. He gasped, frozen in disbelief, as he saw his two daughters standing on their own feet, holding onto each other.

The truth was revealed, and Beatrice was swiftly arrested. Weeks later, the manor was filled with the sound of running footsteps and laughter. Charles kept his promise, officially signing Olivia's adoption papers. As they stood together on the same snowy steps where they first met, Charles looked down at his three daughters. Sometimes, the deepest wounds cannot be healed by medicine, but by the fierce, protective power of a family's love.
