Previously: When rough-around-the-edges biker Marcus spots a terrified young woman hiding behind a neon-lit bar, a hidden mark on her shoulder forces him to confront a dark secret from his past.

A Promise Kept

Marcus knew they couldn't stay in the alley. He helped Lily to her feet, guiding her to his heavy black motorcycle parked around the corner. He threw his spare helmet over her high ponytail and roared off into the night, heading straight for the only safe haven he knew: his private garage on the edge of town. There, surrounded by the smell of motor oil and iron, Marcus made a phone call to an old friend in the federal archives, requesting a file he had kept secured for years—the original, unaltered birth certificate of Clara's daughter.

An hour later, the headlights of a luxury black sedan swept through the garage windows. Richard, a tall, impeccably dressed man with cold, calculating eyes, stepped out, flanked by two local officers. He sneered as he saw Lily hiding behind Marcus.

"Hand her over, Marcus,"

Richard said, his voice dripping with arrogance.

"She's a minor, and she belongs under my custody. Don't make this a criminal matter."

Marcus stepped forward, his massive frame towering over the older man. He slowly produced a thick manila envelope from his workbench, tossing it onto the hood of Richard's sedan. Inside was the certified birth certificate, alongside bank records proving Richard had embezzled millions from Lily's trust fund.

"The local cops might be on your payroll, Richard, but the federal agents I just called aren't,"

Marcus growled, a fierce, victorious smile playing on his lips.

"This paperwork proves Lily is my legal next of kin, and it proves you've been stealing from her. You walk away right now, or you leave here in handcuffs."

Richard's face paled as he scanned the documents. Realizing his leverage was entirely gone, he ordered the officers back into the car and drove off into the night, leaving them in peace. Marcus turned to Lily, tears finally spilling over his weathered cheeks as he pulled his niece into a warm, protective embrace. He had lost his sister, but he had finally brought her daughter home.
