The Groom Tried to Fire the Elderly Maid, but His Father Recognized Her Necklace
Previously: When an elderly maid accidentally ruined a wedding runway, the groom demanded her immediate departure—until his father saw her necklace and stopped the entire ceremony.
A Ghost in the Ballroom
The entire ballroom fell into a suffocating silence as Daniel stared at the elderly maid. Thirty years ago, he had been told his beloved wife, Eleanor, had perished in a devastating car fire. He had mourned her for decades, raising Matthew as a grieving single father. Yet here she was, standing before him in a servant's uniform, her eyes holding the same deep blue warmth he had never forgotten. "Eleanor? Is it really you?" Daniel asked, his voice shaking with a lifetime of unshed tears.
Matthew stepped between them, his face flushed with embarrassment and anger.
"Dad, what are you doing? This is insane! Mom died when I was a baby. This woman is a con artist trying to exploit your grief!"he yelled, gesturing wildly. But Eleanor looked past Daniel and focused her gaze directly on the groom. Tears rolled down her wrinkled cheeks. "Matthew, you have a small, crescent-shaped birthmark on your left shoulder," she said softly. "And when you are stressed, you still clench your hands into tight fists, just like you did in your crib."
Matthew froze, the color draining from his face. Those were intimate details no stranger could possibly know. The guests began to murmur excitedly, sensing a massive scandal. Daniel grabbed Eleanor’s hands, desperate for answers. "Why did you leave us, Eleanor? Why did they tell me you were dead?" he demanded, his heart breaking all over again.
Eleanor looked around the room, her body trembling with a deep, primal fear. "I didn't want to leave, Daniel. I was forced to," she sobbed. "A powerful man threatened to destroy you and kill our son if I didn't disappear forever. He paid the police to fake my death." She slowly raised a shaking finger, pointing toward the VIP table at the back. Standing there, pale and frozen, was Arthur, Daniel’s wealthy business partner and stepbrother.
