Previously: When a wealthy groom humiliated an elderly maid at his wedding, his father stepped in—only to recognize the silver pendant around her neck and uncover a devastating family secret.

A Ghost from the Past

The cathedral remained in a stunned silence as David stared at the ring. The engraved date, October 12th, 1978, was burned into his memory. It was the exact date of his wedding to his late wife, Sarah, who had allegedly perished in a tragic car accident forty years ago. The body had never been recovered, leaving David with a lifetime of unanswered questions and a hollow heart.

He looked up from the ring and stared into the maid’s eyes. Beneath the tears and the lines of age, the truth struck him like a physical blow. This woman was not a stranger. She was Sarah. His Sarah.

"Sarah?" David whispered, his voice cracking. "How... how is this possible?"

Elena, or rather Sarah, shook her head frantically, tears streaming down her face. "David, please. Let me go. It's better this way," she sobbed, trying to pull her hand away from his grasp. But David refused to let go. The shock was rapidly turning into a desperate need for answers.

Marcus stormed down from the altar, his face flushed with embarrassment. "Dad, what are you doing? She’s a servant who ruined my wedding! Why are you holding her hand?"

"Shut up, Marcus!" David snapped, his voice thunderous.

He had never spoken to his son in such a tone. Marcus recoiled in shock. David turned back to his wife, his heart pounding against his ribs. "Sarah, look at me. They told me you died. I buried an empty casket. Who did this to us?"

Sarah's eyes darted toward the back of the cathedral. David followed her terrified gaze and locked eyes with his older brother, Arthur. Arthur, who had managed the family fortune and handled the legal aftermath of Sarah’s "accident," had turned pale as a ghost. Seeing them look at him, Arthur slowly began to back toward the exit. The pieces of a dark family betrayal were beginning to fall into place, and David was not about to let his brother escape.
