The soft glow of the bistro lights cast a warm, romantic hue over the manicured lawn of the estate. It was supposed to be the happiest day of Clara’s life. Surrounded by friends and family, she looked at her new husband, Thomas, who looked incredibly handsome in his tailored dark navy tuxedo. For months, Clara had believed she was marrying her soulmate, a man who loved her for who she was, despite the tragic loss of her parents years ago. But the illusion of her fairy-tale wedding shattered in a single, brutal heartbeat.

Clara was speaking with some of her bridesmaids near the champagne tower when a harsh, raised voice cut through the laughter and music. She turned to see Thomas standing near the main decorated dinner table, towering over her elderly grandfather, Arthur. Arthur, eighty-two and frail, stood clutching his polished wooden cane, his knuckles white. Thomas’s face was twisted in a savage fury Clara had never seen before. He was aggressively pointing his finger directly into the old man’s face, shouting loud enough for the entire reception to hear.

The Wedding Shattered

"Give me the key!" Thomas roared, his voice trembling with a terrifying rage. "I know you have it, old man! Give it to me right now!"

Before Arthur could even open his mouth to respond, Thomas reared back and unleashed a brutal punch straight to the elderly man's face. The impact was sickeningly loud. Arthur careened backward, crashing violently into the beautifully decorated dinner table. Porcelain plates shattered, wine glasses exploded into glittering shards, and the table collapsed under his weight. Arthur fell heavily onto the lawn, gasping for air, his wooden cane spinning away across the grass.

The guests gasped in pure terror, but the nightmare wasn't over. Thomas took a step forward and fiercely kicked the defenseless old man in the ribs. With a sneer of utter contempt, Thomas grabbed a handful of pristine white wedding peonies from a broken centerpiece and threw them mockingly over Arthur's fallen, bruised body. Clara let out a blood-curdling scream and rushed forward, dropping to her knees in the dirt to shield her grandfather.
