My Groom Ruined Our Wedding by Attacking My Grandfather for a Secret Key
Previously: On what was supposed to be the happiest day of her life, Clara watched in horror as her groom violently attacked her elderly grandfather over a mysterious key.
Clara cradled her grandfather's head, her pristine white gown quickly becoming stained with his blood and the dirt of the lawn. Arthur was wheezing, clutching his chest in agony. Thomas stood over them like a conquering tyrant, his chest heaving under his navy tuxedo. When Clara looked up at him, begging for an explanation, she saw only cold, calculating greed in his eyes.
"Your grandfather is a thief, Clara," Thomas sneered, projecting his voice to the stunned crowd. "He stole the key to our future. He’s hiding the family estate key, and I’m just taking back what’s mine."
Before Clara could process the lie, Thomas’s cousin, Marcus—a local deputy sheriff who had been invited as a guest—stepped forward. Instead of arresting Thomas for assault, Marcus drew his handcuffs and knelt beside Arthur. Clara stared in disbelief as Marcus locked the cuffs around her grandfather's frail wrists, declaring him under arrest for grand larceny. Clara realized with a sickening jolt that this was a coordinated trap. Thomas had married her solely to access her late parents' hidden wealth, and he had his corrupt cousin in his pocket to enforce it.

A Web of Lies
Thomas leaned down, his voice dropping to a low, venomous whisper that only Clara could hear. He threatened that if she didn't hand over the brass key hidden inside her bridal bouquet, he would ensure Arthur died in a prison cell, and that her younger sister would be his next target. The sheer malice of the threat paralyzed Clara. Her grandfather, however, squeezed her hand with surprising strength.
"Don't do it, Clara," Arthur whispered hoarsely, his eyes filled with defiance. "The box is already empty. I knew what he was the moment he proposed. The real inheritance is safe."
Thomas’s face went pale with rage upon hearing Arthur's words. He grabbed Clara by the arm, dragging her away from her grandfather, demanding to know where the assets had been moved. The dream of her wedding day was completely dead; she was now fighting for her family's survival against a monster.
