Previously: A street orphan's torn medallion and a matching birthmark expose a shocking twin secret at a gala, shattering a billionaire's world and a headmaster's cruel plans.

The DNA Test That Turned Our World Upside Down

Three days after the gala, the Rosewood mansion buzzed with lawyers, private investigators, and a media storm that wouldn't quit. Julian had called in every favor he owned to get a rush DNA test, and the results were everything we'd hoped for and nothing we expected.

"The test confirms it," the family lawyer said, sliding a folder across the mahogany table. "Ethan is your biological son. There's no doubt."

Victoria burst into tears, pulling me into her arms. Evan cheered, wrapping his arms around both of us. But Julian's face was stone. "How did this happen?" he asked, his voice dangerously quiet. "Who took my son?"

The lawyer hesitated. "That's the part that gets complicated. We traced the birth records, and a woman named Sarah Cole—your nanny—was the one who signed the adoption papers. But she didn't act alone."

My blood ran cold. Sarah Cole was the woman I called my mother. She'd died when I was three, but she'd never told me the truth. She'd only given me the medallion and a promise that I had a brother.

"Sarah was a good person," I said, my voice cracking. "She wouldn't have done this."

Julian knelt in front of me, his hands on my shoulders. "We're going to find out who made her do it," he said. "And when we do, they'll answer for every lost year."

The next day, the investigators brought shocking news. The hospital security footage from the night of my birth had been tampered with, but a grainy image showed a man in a janitor's uniform handing a baby to Sarah. The man's face was obscured, but his build was unmistakable.

"That's Dean Hargreaves," Julian said, his jaw dropping. "I'd recognize that posture anywhere."

My heart pounded. The headmaster who'd mocked me in front of hundreds of people had been the one to steal me. It made a terrible sense—he'd been the one to push me away, to try to hide me from the Rosewoods.

"Why would he do this?" I whispered.

"That's what we're going to find out," Julian said, grabbing his coat. "And he's going to tell us everything."

We drove to Mercer Academy in a black SUV, flanked by security. The school looked different in daylight—less magical, more menacing. Dean Hargreaves's office was at the end of a long hallway, its door closed like a fortress.

Julian didn't knock. He kicked the door open, revealing the headmaster sitting behind his desk, a glass of whiskey in his hand.

"You," Hargreaves spat, his face pale. "What do you want?"

"I want to know why you stole my son," Julian said, his voice low and dangerous. "I want to know why you tried to keep him hidden at the gala. And I want to know who paid you."

Hargreaves laughed, a brittle sound. "You think you can threaten me? I have connections, Rosewood. More than you know."

"I don't threaten," Julian said, stepping closer. "I promise. And I always keep my promises."

The headmaster's bravado cracked. His hands shook as he set down the glass. "It wasn't my idea," he said, his voice barely a whisper. "Your brother—Richard—he came to me with a plan. He wanted your fortune. He knew that without an heir, everything would go to him. So he paid me to take the baby and make sure you never found him."

The room spun. Richard. Julian's younger brother, the one who'd always seemed so kind at family dinners.

"He's been living in France for years," Julian said, disbelief in his voice. "He never came back."

"He's been watching," Hargreaves said. "Waiting. He thought the secret would die with me."

I looked at Julian, and I saw the pain in his eyes. His own brother had stolen his child. It was a betrayal so deep, it seemed impossible.

Victoria stepped forward, her voice ice. "Where is Richard now?"

Hargreaves shook his head. "He's in Monaco. He doesn't know the boy has been found. But he'll know soon enough."

Julian pulled out his phone. "Then we'll give him a welcome home he'll never forget."

He turned to me, his eyes softening. "Ethan, I'm going to bring your uncle to justice. But I need you to be strong. Can you do that?"

I nodded, my fists clenched. "I've been strong my whole life," I said. "I can be strong for this too."

Julian smiled, a fierce, proud smile. "That's my son."
