Previously: A ironworker in scuffed boots is mocked by a VIP shopper at a Miami auto gallery. But when he flashes a black titanium card, the tables turn in the most satisfying way.

The Aftermath That Cut Deeper Than Any Engine Rev

Cassandra stood frozen, her hands shaking at her sides. Her mink-trimmed cape suddenly looked ridiculous, a costume for a role she'd just lost. "I—I didn't know," she stammered, her voice barely above a whisper.

"That's the point," I said, my voice calm but firm. "You judged me by my boots. You never asked who I was."

Mia tugged at my sleeve. "Daddy, is she okay?"

"She's fine, sweetheart. She's just learning a lesson."

Moreau stepped between us, his eyes fixed on Cassandra. "Your VIP membership is revoked, effective immediately. You are no longer welcome in any of our locations."

"But—but I've spent thousands here!" Cassandra protested, her voice cracking. "I've referred clients—"

"You've also humiliated our majority shareholder and his family," Moreau cut in. "That's not the kind of client we want."

I watched her crumble, her carefully constructed world collapsing in front of her. She opened her purse, fumbling for her phone. "I'll call my lawyer. You'll hear from him—"

"You go right ahead," I said, taking a step forward. "But I think you'll find that ownership has its privileges."

Cassandra's eyes flicked to me, and for the first time, I saw genuine fear in them. She turned on her heel and walked toward the exit, her heels clicking erratically on the obsidian floor. But before she reached the door, she stopped, turned back, and pointed a trembling finger at me.

"This isn't over," she hissed. "You think you can humiliate me? I know people. I know secrets."

"I'm sure you do," I replied, my voice steady. "But I also know that secrets have a way of coming out."

She stared at me for a long moment, then walked out, the door swinging shut behind her. The silence that followed was thick, broken only by Mia's soft voice. "Daddy, did we win?"

"We didn't need to win, baby. We just needed to be true."

Clara stepped forward, her face still flushed. "Mr. Roman, I'm so sorry for—"

"You have nothing to apologize for," I said, smiling at her. "You were respectful. That counts for a lot."

Moreau cleared his throat. "The paperwork is ready, sir. And I've arranged for the car to be delivered to your home tomorrow."

I nodded, but my mind was elsewhere. Cassandra's threat lingered in the air, a dark cloud over the victory. I knew she wouldn't let this go. She had resources, connections, and a bruised ego that would demand revenge.

As we left the showroom, Mia's hand in mine, I couldn't shake the feeling that this was just the beginning. The car was mine, but the battle wasn't over. Not by a long shot.

That night, my phone buzzed with an unknown number. I answered, and a voice I didn't recognize spoke in a low, measured tone. "Mr. Roman? I think we need to talk about your past."

I froze, my blood turning cold. Cassandra had made good on her threat faster than I'd expected.
