Heather leaned against the refrigerator, panting, her face a mixture of anger and fear. She tried to straighten her red sweater, attempting to regain her composure, but the guilt was written all over her face.

"She... she does this every time you leave, Matthew," Florence whispered, her voice cracking with emotion. "She wants me gone."

Inside were legal documents—power of attorney papers, a transfer of property deed for the house, and Florence's bank statements, showing thousands of dollars already transferred to a private account. Heather had been systematically isolating Florence, abusing her, and trying to force her to sign over her entire life savings and her beloved home.

"You monster," Matthew breathed, holding up the forged documents. "You were trying to ruin her."

Realizing she was caught, Heather's demeanor shifted from defensive to venomous. She spat on the floor and declared that she deserved the money for putting up with "an old burden" for so long.
