Previously: When a scruffy stranger interrupted a high-society gala demanding to dance with a paralyzed heiress, her wealthy father tried to throw him out. Then, the stranger knelt and whispered a prayer.

The Spark of Hope

A collective gasp rippled through the grand reception hall. Arthur’s face turned from red to a deep, furious purple. "Get your filthy hands off my daughter!" he roared, lunging forward to grab Thomas by his faded jacket. Two burly security guards materialized from the crowd, rushing to drag the intruder away. But just as their heavy hands clamped onto Thomas’s shoulders, Clara let out a sharp, trembling gasp.

"Father, wait!" Clara cried, her voice cracking with an emotion no one had heard from her in half a decade. Her hands gripped the armrests of her wheelchair so tightly that her knuckles turned white. "Wait... please."

Arthur froze, signaling the guards to hold. "Clara, sweetheart, this man is a lunatic. He’s exploiting your condition for a sick joke," he pleaded, his voice softening only for her. But Clara wasn't looking at her father. She was looking down at her legs. A strange, radiant warmth was spreading from her collarbone, rushing down her spine like a gentle wave of heat, settling into her long-dormant limbs.

Thomas remained on one knee, ignoring the guards who still held his arms. He looked up at Clara with a serene, encouraging smile. "Do not be afraid," he whispered. "Your faith has heard the call."

The guests watched in absolute, breathless silence. The silence was so profound that you could hear the soft hum of the crystal chandeliers above. Clara’s legs, which had been motionless for five long years, began to tremble. Arthur watched in horror and disbelief as Clara slowly slid her feet forward, planting them firmly on the cold marble floor.
