Downstairs, the atmosphere had shifted. Mark was already pouring glasses of wine for Chloe and Todd, talking loudly about his plans to redecorate the cottage. He looked up, a smug grin playing on his lips, as Sarah walked back into the kitchen, holding a single, yellowed sheet of paper.

She walked over to the counter and placed the document directly over his empty brown envelope.

"What's this?"

Mark sneered, refusing to touch it.

"Your eviction notice,"

Sarah replied calmly, crossing her arms.

Mark laughed, but the laughter died when Sarah began to read the reversion clause aloud. His face drained of color as he snatched the paper from the counter, his eyes scanning the official seal and his own grandfather's signature. Todd and Chloe leaned in, their eyes widening as they realized the gravity of what was written. The cottage didn't belong to Mark's family anymore. By attempting to evict Sarah, Mark had legally forfeited the entire estate to her.

"This can't be real,"

Mark stammered, his hands trembling as he stared at the document.

"It is entirely real, and my lawyer has already received a digital copy,"

Sarah said, her voice ringing with quiet authority.

"You have until tomorrow morning to pack your things and leave my house."

In a matter of minutes, the smug arrogance vanished. Mark and his friends hurriedly packed their belongings in a shameful, rushed silence. As the front door clicked shut, Sarah stood alone in her quiet, sunlit kitchen. The betrayal had hurt, but she had saved her home and reclaimed her power.
