He Faked a Coma to Catch His Greedy Advisor — the Trap No One Saw Coming
Previously: Julian pretended to be in a coma to expose the man stealing from his family. But when his 12-year-old son stepped in, the trap snapped shut in a way no one expected.
The Shell Account That Changed Everything
Two hours later, Julian and Ethan sat in the clinic's waiting room, the polished marble floor reflecting the harsh fluorescents. The police had taken Greg to the precinct for booking, but Julian knew this wasn't over. A man like Greg didn't steal just one key. He stole everything.
"Dad," Ethan said, his voice still shaky, "I didn't mean to—I was just trying to—"

"You were trying to protect me," Julian said, ruffling his son's hair. "You did good, kid."
But Ethan's face was pale. He kept glancing at the door, as if waiting for something to happen.
"What's wrong?" Julian asked.
"I don't know," Ethan whispered. "When Greg grabbed the ledger, he said something weird. He said, 'The real money is in a shell account under your son's name.'"
Julian's blood ran cold. "What?"
"He said he made me a millionaire," Ethan continued, his voice cracking. "But I never asked for that. I never—"
Julian pulled out his phone and opened the banking app. His fingers flew across the screen, his heart pounding. There it was—an account in Ethan's name, opened two years ago, with a balance of $4.7 million.
"That's not possible," Julian murmured. "You're twelve. You can't open an account without my signature."
"I didn't open it," Ethan said. "But Greg had me sign something last year. He said it was a school field trip form."
Julian's face went white. "He used your name. He used your identity to hide his theft."
"So... that money is dirty?" Ethan asked.
"It's laundered," Julian said, his voice tight. "If the feds trace it back to you, you could be charged with fraud. All of it—the transfers, the shell companies—it could all be pinned on you."
Ethan's eyes filled with tears. "Dad, I didn't do anything wrong!"
"I know, son. I know." Julian pulled him close, his mind racing. "But Greg is smart. He set this up as a fallback. If he ever got caught, he'd drag you down with him."
"What do we do?"
Julian looked at his watch. The recording had stopped, but the truth was still out there. "We need to get to the precinct before he makes a deal. We need to get ahead of this."
As they walked to the car, Julian's phone buzzed. It was a text from an unknown number: "You think you've won? Check your safe."
Julian's heart stopped. He ran back to the suite, Ethan at his heels. The safe was still open, its contents scattered on the floor. But at the bottom, where he had kept his grandfather's gold watch, there was a note.
"I took something more valuable than money," it read. "I took your reputation. The real ledger is in my hands. And it points to you."
Julian's hands shook. He knew what that meant. Greg had planted evidence—false evidence—that would make Julian look like the mastermind behind the fraud.
"Dad," Ethan whispered, "what do we do?"
Julian looked at his son, his jaw set. "We fight."
