He Faked Paralysis to Test His Greedy Fiancé — Then Caught His Wrist Mid-Air and Uttered 5 Words
Previously: Marcus pretended to be blind and paralyzed to expose the gold digger who wanted his sister's locket. But when Brad lunged for Chloe, Marcus stood up and caught his wrist mid-air. The wedding was never happening.
Brad's Lawyer Showed Up at My Doorstep With a Document That Made My Blood Run Cold
Two days had passed since the arrest, and I thought the nightmare was over. I was wrong.
Chloe was playing in the garden when the doorbell rang. I opened it to find a man in an expensive suit, holding a leather briefcase. He introduced himself as Mark Delaney, Brad's attorney.

"Mr. Bradford," he said, his smile too slick, "I'm here to discuss your fiancé's... situation."
I crossed my arms, my body still aching from the fake paralysis I'd maintained for two weeks. "He's not my fiancé anymore."
"Of course not," Delaney said, stepping inside without an invitation. "But he is your former partner, and he has some... claims."
He pulled out a document and handed it to me. It was a prenuptial agreement, signed by me — or so it appeared. But I'd never signed anything like this. My signature was forged.
"This grants Mr. Vance fifty percent of all Bradford assets," Delaney said, "including the estate, the trust fund, and the aviation company."
I stared at the page, my hands shaking. "This is a forgery."
"Is it?" Delaney smiled. "We have witnesses who saw you sign it. And if you contest it, we'll drag your sister into court. Is that what you want?"
I felt a cold rage building in my chest. "You're threatening a child?"
"I'm simply stating the facts," Delaney said. "You have 72 hours to agree to the terms, or we'll file a lawsuit that will tie up your assets for years. And we'll make sure the press hears about how you faked your injuries to trap an innocent man."
He left, and I slammed the door behind him.
Chloe came running in, her face worried. "Who was that, Marcus?"
"Nobody," I said, forcing a smile. "Just a bad dream."
I knew I couldn't fight this alone. I called my best friend, Sarah, who worked as a private investigator. She arrived within an hour, her laptop already open.
"I've been digging into Brad's financials," she said. "He has a secret offshore account, funneled from your company. And he's been paying off a woman to pose as a witness."
"A witness for what?"
"She claims she saw you sign the prenup," Sarah said. "But she's a known con artist. I have her phone records showing she met with Brad's lawyer three times last week."
"So it's a setup," I said, pacing. "He's been planning this for months."
"It's worse," Sarah said, turning her screen to me. "He's been siphoning money from your trust fund for years. He used your fake crash to speed up the process, thinking you'd be too incapacitated to notice."
I felt my blood boil. "He used my own lie against me."
"But there's a way out," Sarah said. "If we can prove the prenup is forged, and we can tie the offshore account to him, we can have him charged with fraud and embezzlement. He'll go to prison for a long time."
"How do we prove it?"
"We need his original signature from your lease agreement," she said. "And we need to get a handwriting expert to testify."
I nodded. "I have the lease in my office."
But when I opened the safe, the lease was gone. In its place was a note in Brad's handwriting: "You thought you were clever, Marcus. But I'm always one step ahead."
My heart sank. "He's already been here."
Sarah looked grim. "Then we need a different approach."
I thought about the body camera footage I had. It showed Brad threatening Chloe, but not the forgery. I needed something bigger.
"What about the offshore account?" I asked. "Can we trace it to him?"
"I'm working on it," Sarah said. "But it's going to take time to get a court order."
Time was something I didn't have. Brad's 72-hour deadline was ticking.
That night, I couldn't sleep. I sat in the chapel, staring at the stained glass windows, thinking about my mother. She had always told me to trust my instincts. And my instincts said Brad was about to make his move.
The next morning, I got a call from the police. Brad had been released on bail.
"He's out," I told Sarah. "And he's coming for us."
"We need to take this to the press," Sarah said. "If we expose him publicly, he'll lose all credibility."
But I didn't want to make Chloe a target. I had to protect her at all costs.
I looked at the locket around her neck, and I knew what I had to do.
I was going to take Brad down — not with lawyers, not with evidence, but with the truth. And I was going to make sure he never threatened my family again.
