Previously: A monstrous tornado ripped through the estate, trapping a humble farmer and a wealthy elite. As the farmer fought to keep the doors shut, the billionaire made a shocking offer.

The Price of Survival

The concussive boom of the oak beam striking the iron door echoed through the already chaotic ballroom. Tommy, his body screaming in protest, had lunged forward, absorbing the brutal impact. The shearing iron bar scraped across his bare left hand, leaving a raw, bleeding gash. He gritted his teeth, the pain a white-hot agony that momentarily eclipsed the roar of the tornado. Julian, witnessing this raw display of sacrifice, was momentarily stunned into silence, his earlier offer of ten million dollars sounding hollow and pathetic in the face of such primal resolve. The storm, however, was far from finished. The external vortex, a relentless, insatiable force, began to pull again, lifting Tommy's boots off the ground once more. His muscles, locked like steel cable, strained against the howling abyss. The golden light from the swaying chandelier framed his blood-soaked silhouette against the groaning iron door, a solitary figure defying the apocalypse.

Suddenly, with a fatal, splitting crack that echoed into the encroaching blackness, one of the iron door hinges gave way. The door buckled inward, revealing a sliver of the maelstrom outside. Tommy, with a guttural roar, threw his entire weight against the weakened frame, his body a human shield against the raging elements. The wind howled through the gap, ripping at his clothes, threatening to tear him from his precarious hold. Julian, jolted from his stupor, finally reacted. He scrambled towards a smaller, secondary bolt on the inside of the door, fumbling with trembling fingers.

"Hold it! For God's sake, hold it!" Julian shrieked, his voice cracking.

Tommy’s response was a silent, grimace, his face a mask of pure exertion. He could feel the metal groaning, the remaining hinges straining under the immense pressure. The floor beneath him was slick with shattered glass and water. He knew, with chilling certainty, that he couldn't hold it much longer. His strength was failing, his body pushed beyond its limits. He glanced back at Julian, who was now desperately trying to secure the secondary bolt, his bespoke tuxedo stained with storm grime and his own terror. The elites huddled behind them, their faces a mixture of terror and disbelief. Was this it? Was this how it ended, not with a bang, but with a desperate, failing grip against the raw power of nature?
