Previously: When Edward violently kicked an old woman outside the maternity ward, he thought he saved his reputation. But the spilled apples revealed a dark secret.

The Price of Deception

The revelation struck the hallway like a lightning bolt. Edward, the self-proclaimed heir to a fictional European shipping fortune, was nothing more than a fraud. He had abandoned his impoverished mother years ago, changing his name and inventing a glamorous past to marry Clara, the daughter of a wealthy real estate mogul. He had lived in constant terror that his humble origins would be exposed, and when Beatrice tracked him down to bless his newborn child, his fear turned into monstrous violence.

"She is lying! She is a scammer looking for a payout!" Edward yelled, his voice cracking with desperation as he tried to pull Clara away.

But Clara saw right through him. The disgust she felt was overwhelming. She looked at the man she thought she loved, now seeing only a cruel stranger who would kick his own mother to protect a lie. Just then, Clara's father arrived down the hall, flanked by hospital security. Seeing the scene, Clara made her decision instantly.

She ordered the security guards to escort Edward out of the building and ban him from the premises. No matter how much Edward begged and pleaded, Clara remained cold as stone. She helped Beatrice rise to her feet, gently brushing the dust from her beige trench coat, and brought her inside the warm maternity room.

For the first time, Beatrice held her grandson, her tears wetting the baby’s soft blanket as she shook the silver rattle gently. Clara filed for divorce the very next day, stripping Edward of every luxury he had lied to obtain. In the end, Edward lost the wealthy life he desperately coveted, while Beatrice found a daughter-in-law who valued love and truth above any family fortune. True wealth is never found in a fabricated name, but in the honesty and love we offer to those who gave us life.
