Previously: When a cruel hotel director forces my eight-months-pregnant wife to kneel, our six-year-old daughter steps up. But he doesn't know who she really is — or what I just walked in with.

The Hospital Room Where Everything Changed

The private maternity suite at St. Mary's Hospital was quiet, save for the soft beeping of monitors. Sophie lay in the bed, exhausted but radiant, holding a tiny bundle wrapped in a white blanket.

"He's beautiful," she whispered, looking at the newborn's face. "Just like his father."

Lorenzo sat beside her, his hand gently stroking the baby's cheek. "He's got your eyes. And Daisy's stubbornness. He fought to come early."

Daisy was asleep on a small cot in the corner, still wearing her yellow sundress, clutching a teddy bear that Lorenzo had bought from the gift shop.

"I'm sorry I ruined your surprise," Sophie said. "The hotel... I didn't even get to see it."

"It's not going anywhere," Lorenzo said. "It's yours. And you can redecorate it however you want. Tear down the VIP section, turn it into a children's play area. Whatever you'd like."

Sophie laughed weakly. "I was thinking we could turn it into a family restaurant. Somewhere people can bring their kids without being judged."

"That sounds perfect," Lorenzo said. "But first, we need to deal with Alistair."

Sophie's smile faded. "He escaped, didn't he?"

"The police are searching," Lorenzo said. "But I have a feeling he'll come after us. He's not the type to let go."

As if on cue, Lorenzo's phone buzzed. It was a text from the hotel's head of security.

"Mr. Santoro, we found something in Finch's office. A USB drive. You need to see this."

Lorenzo frowned. "What is it?"

"It's... a video. From the security cameras. From the day you bought the hotel."

Lorenzo's blood ran cold. He'd made sure the sale was confidential. But if Alistair had footage...

"I'll be right there," he typed back.

He turned to Sophie. "I need to go to the hotel. It's important. But I'll be back before you wake up."

"Be careful," she said, squeezing his hand. "He's dangerous when he's cornered."

"I know," Lorenzo said. "That's why I'm going to end this."

At the hotel, the security office was a small room filled with monitors. The head of security, a burly man named Ray, handed Lorenzo a USB drive.

"I found it in a hidden safe in Finch's office," Ray said. "This is the last file on it."

Lorenzo plugged it into a laptop. The screen flickered to life, showing a grainy black-and-white feed. It was the hotel's lobby, three months ago. A man in a gray suit was meeting with Alistair at a table near the window.

Lorenzo leaned closer. The man in the suit was familiar. It was his own brother, Marcus Santoro.

The audio was muffled, but he could make out snippets. "...the deed..." "...payoff..." "...once it's in her name, we'll..."

Lorenzo's heart pounded. Marcus was his partner in the bank. They'd been building an empire together. But this... this was betrayal.

Ray looked at him. "What does it mean?"

"It means," Lorenzo said slowly, "that my brother is not who I thought he was."

He pulled out his phone and called Marcus. It rang once, twice. "Lorenzo! How's the new father?" Marcus's voice was warm, familiar.

"Cut the act," Lorenzo said. "I found the USB drive."

There was a long silence. Then Marcus laughed, a cold, ugly sound. "You were never supposed to find that."

"Why?" Lorenzo demanded. "Why would you do this?"

"Because you have everything," Marcus said. "The wife, the kid, the empire. And I... I'm just the shadow. But not anymore."

"What are you planning?"

"You'll find out soon enough," Marcus said. "But I'll give you a hint. Alistair isn't the only one who's been watching your family."

The call ended. Lorenzo stared at the phone, his mind racing. Marcus had been in on it from the beginning. And now he was out there, somewhere, with God knows what planned.

He turned to Ray. "Get me everything you have on Marcus Santoro. And call the police. We're going to find him before he finds my wife."

Ray nodded and began typing. Lorenzo looked out the window at the city below. The sun was setting, casting long shadows. Somewhere out there, his brother was plotting. But Lorenzo had something Marcus didn't.

He had everything to lose. And that made him dangerous.

He picked up his phone again, dialing Sophie. She answered on the first ring. "Lorenzo? Is everything okay?"

"Everything's fine," he said, his voice steady. "I'm coming home. And when I get there, I have a story to tell you."

"About the hotel?"

"About family," he said. "And what it really means."

He hung up and walked out of the security office, his steps firm. The game had just begun. And this time, he would win.
