He Mocked a Woman Who Slipped, Unaware His Whole Future Was in Her Hands
The autumn rain had left the city streets slick and unforgiving. Hannah clutched her purse tightly, her petite frame shivering slightly under her teal windbreaker. It had been an exhausting day, and all she wanted was to get home to her quiet apartment. As she hurried past a weathered brick building, her foot caught on a patch of wet, mossy concrete. In a split second, her feet went out from under her, and she crashed hard onto the cold, damp sidewalk.
Pain flared in her knee, but the sting of humiliation was far worse. Before she could even try to push herself up, a loud burst of mockery echoed through the damp air.
"Woo! Look at her!"
shouted Mason, a young man wearing a navy bomber jacket, pointing at her as he snickered.
"And she wiped out!"
his friend added, chuckling loudly as the group stood under the awning of a nearby shop, completely amused by her misfortune.
Tears welled in Hannah's eyes. She felt entirely helpless, exposed to the cold cruelty of strangers. But before she could sink deeper into her embarrassment, another man rushed forward. He wore a dark grey jacket, his expression filled with genuine concern.
"Hey, you okay? Easy, easy, let me help you up. You good?"
Jason asked, gently offering his hand and supporting her weight as she gingerly stood up.
"Yeah,"
Hannah whispered softly, brushing the wet dirt from her knees, her voice trembling.
Jason gave her a reassuring nod.
"All right, stay right here,"
he instructed softly. Then, his demeanor shifted. He turned toward Mason and his laughing friends, his jaw clenched in anger. He glared at the group, his eyes burning with disgust.
"Is that how you treat people?"
Jason demanded, his voice cutting through the damp city air.
