Previously: An arrogant bank exec humiliates a maintenance man and his little girl. Then the father calmly presses his palm to the founder's pillar — and the entire vault floor drops to its knees.

Damien's laughter echoed through the executive corridor as security dragged him past my office.

“You think this is over?” he shouted, his voice cracking. “The board will never accept you! You're just a janitor who got lucky! I'll have your chairman status revoked by morning!”

I didn't even look up from the folder I was reading. But Mia, sitting on the leather couch in my office, looked at me with wide eyes. “Dad, is he right? Can they take your title?”

“No, sweetheart,” I said calmly, closing the folder. “I own sixty-two percent of this bank. The board can't do a thing without my approval.” I stood and walked to the window, looking out at the city skyline. “But Damien has been embezzling from the reserve for the past two years, hiding it in shell companies and offshore accounts. He thought he was untouchable because he controlled the daily operations while I stayed in the shadows.”

I turned to face her. “I've been undercover for three months, testing my own security. I wanted to see if my team could catch a leak. But instead, I found something much worse.”

Mia's brow furrowed. “What?”

“A second set of books,” I said, holding up the folder. “Damien and a few others have been siphoning funds to a private account — and they've been using it to buy up shares of the bank from disgruntled employees. They're trying to mount a hostile takeover.”

She gasped. “But you said you own sixty-two percent!”

“I do,” I said, sitting down beside her. “But if they've been buying shares in secret, they might have more than I thought. And there's something else.” I opened the folder to a photograph of Damien standing with a man in a dark suit. “Do you know who that is?”

Mia shook her head.

“That's Victor Kane, a known financial criminal. He's been laundering money through the bank for years — and Damien was his inside man.”

Her eyes went wide. “So what are you going to do?”

I smiled, but it was a cold smile. “Tonight, I'm going to call a special board meeting. And I'm going to present them with this evidence. But first, I need to make sure Damien doesn't get a chance to destroy it.” I pulled out my phone and dialed Rocco. “Commander, I need you to move Damien to the secure holding cell in the vault's lower level. And I need the entire board on a video call in thirty minutes.”

Rocco's voice came through, crisp and professional. “Consider it done, Chairman.”

Mia leaned into me. “Dad, I'm scared.”

“Don't be,” I whispered, kissing the top of her head. “I've been waiting for this day for a long time. Let's go show them who runs this bank.”

But as we walked toward the boardroom, my phone buzzed with a text from an unknown number. I opened it and felt my blood run cold.

“I have your daughter's blueprint. Bring the vault codes to the old train station by midnight, or the girl gets a matching souvenir.”

I stopped in my tracks, my hand tightening around the phone. Mia looked up at me. “Dad? What's wrong?”

I forced a smile and slipped the phone back into my pocket. “Nothing, sweetheart. Just a wrong number.” But I knew better. Victor Kane had made his move.

And now it was personal.
