Previously: Victor faked blindness to expose a greedy nurse's true colors. But his ultimate test for his family would reveal a shocking secret no one saw coming.

The Final Revelation Under the Rain

Two hours later, the doorbell rang through the mansion. Victor stood in the center of the study, his posture tall and unyielding, as his son Mark walked in, soaked from the rain, a rehearsed smile on his face.

"Dad! I heard about Brenda. Are you okay?" Mark rushed toward him, arms outstretched for an embrace.

Victor didn't move. He let his son wrap his arms around him, let him feel the solid strength of a man who had supposedly been confined to a wheelchair for years. Then he stepped back, his eyes cold.

"I'm more than okay, Mark," Victor said. "I can see. I can hear. And I know everything."

Mark's smile faltered. "What are you talking about, Dad?"

Victor held up the laptop, the screen showing the frozen image of Mark's face during that phone call. "Three nights ago. You told Brenda to make sure I didn't wake up long enough to sign anything. You've been siphoning funds from the trust for two years now."

Mark's face went pale. "Dad, that's not what it looks like. I can explain—"

"You can explain why you wanted me dead?" Victor's voice rose, not with anger, but with a grief that cut through the room. "You can explain why you'd pay a nurse to slowly poison me, just so you could inherit early?"

Mark's mouth opened and closed like a fish gasping for air. "It wasn't… I didn't know she was going to…"

"You knew exactly what she was doing," Victor said. "You just didn't care."

Noah stepped out from behind the armchair, his small face streaked with tears. "Dad, how could you?"

Mark looked at his son, and for a moment, Victor saw a flicker of genuine regret in his eyes. But it vanished as quickly as it came, replaced by desperation. "Noah, I did this for you. For our family's future."

"Our family's future doesn't include stealing from Grandpa," Noah said, his voice trembling but firm.

The front doors opened, and Detective Reyes entered with two officers. "Mark Montgomery, you're under arrest for conspiracy to commit fraud and attempted murder."

Mark's eyes widened as the handcuffs clicked around his wrists. "Dad, please! I'm your son!"

Victor looked at his son, the boy he had raised, the man he had trusted. "You stopped being my son the day you decided I was worth more dead than alive."

As the officers led Mark away, the rain continued to fall, washing the driveway clean. Noah wrapped his arms around Victor's waist, and Victor held him close, his heart heavy but his spirit unbroken.

"Grandpa," Noah whispered, "what happens now?"

Victor looked down at the boy, his only true family. "Now, we start over. With honesty. With trust. And with you as my heir."

Noah looked up, surprised. "Me?"

"You, Noah," Victor said, a rare smile spreading beneath his beard. "You guarded my monitor when everyone else wanted it unplugged. You passed the test that mattered."

The rain began to ease, the clouds parting to reveal a sliver of moonlight. Victor knew the road ahead wouldn't be easy, but for the first time in years, he felt hope.

And as he walked back into the study, his arm around his grandson's shoulders, he knew that the true legacy of the Montgomery family wasn't in the vault or the trust — it was in the loyalty of a boy who had refused to let go.
