He Promised A Million To Walk Again, But The Healer Was Someone He Ruined
Previously: When a mysterious young man heals a paralyzed billionaire in seconds, a shocking revelation about the boy's identity forces the wealthy man to confront a dark sin from his past.
A Ghost from the Past
The entire restaurant fell into a stunned, dead silence. Arthur stood tall, his hands trembling as he stared down at his own legs. For a decade, those limbs had been nothing but dead weight, and now, he could feel the cold marble beneath his feet. Tears welled in his eyes. It was a miracle. He looked down at the scruffy teenager who was now standing before him, his expression cold and unreadable.
"How did you do this?"
Arthur whispered, his voice cracking with emotion.
"Who are you?"
The boy reached into his tattered hoodie and pulled out a worn, laminated photograph, holding it up to Arthur's face. Arthur's heart stopped. The man in the photograph was wearing a white lab coat, smiling gently. It was Dr. Julian Vanceβthe brilliant neurosurgeon whom Arthur had ruined years ago.
After his initial surgery failed, an angry, bitter Arthur had sued Dr. Vance for medical malpractice, stripping him of his license and his livelihood. Unable to bear the shame, the doctor had taken his own life, leaving his family in absolute ruin.
"My name is Leo Vance,"
the boy said, his voice shaking with a mixture of grief and anger.
"You destroyed my father. You took our home, our dignity, and his life. My mother and I ended up on the streets because of your ruthless greed."
Arthur stepped back, his newly healed legs shaking under the sudden weight of his immense guilt.
"But... how did you heal me?"
he stammered.
Leo pulled a small, metallic device with a pulsing blue light from his pocket.
"This was my father's final prototype. He perfected the bio-neural stimulator the night before he died. He designed it specifically to repair your exact nerve damage. He wanted to give it to you as a gift, to prove he never stopped trying to help you. But you destroyed him before he could finish."
Leo pointed the device directly at Arthur's chest, his finger hovering over a red button.
"You promised me a million dollars, but I don't want your blood money. I can reverse the pulse in three seconds. I can put you right back in that chair forever. Give me one reason why I shouldn't."
βGive me one reason why I shouldn't."
