Previously: When Charles returned to his estate early, he expected a warm welcome. Instead, he found his beloved daughter Sarah weeping on the floor, forced into servitude by his new wife, Madeline.

A Rightful Inheritance

Madeline stared at the document, a sudden knot of dread tightening in her stomach. She tried to speak, but the words caught in her throat as Charles opened the portfolio and turned to the final pages.

"Before my late wife passed away, she placed this entire estate, along with the family trust, into a protected account for Sarah," Charles explained, his voice steady and absolute. "I am merely the trustee. The day Sarah turns eighteen, she becomes the sole owner of everything we are standing on."

Madeline swallowed hard, her eyes doting toward the grand staircase as if searching for an escape. Charles took a step closer, his gaze piercing through her desperate attempts to look innocent.

"And do you remember the prenuptial agreement you signed so eagerly, Madeline?" Charles continued, a bitter smile touching his lips. "Clause twelve clearly states that any acts of emotional, physical, or psychological abuse directed toward my daughter would result in the immediate termination of our marriage, with absolutely zero financial compensation."

The realization hit Madeline like a physical blow. The lavish lifestyle, the designer gowns, the servants she loved to order around—it was all gone in an instant. She began to stammer, begging for forgiveness, claiming it was all a misunderstanding, but Charles raised a hand to silence her.

"You have thirty minutes to pack your things and leave this property," Charles commanded. "If you are still here when the security team arrives, I will have you arrested for trespassing and child abuse."

Madeline looked at Sarah, then at Charles's unyielding expression. Realizing she had lost everything, she turned on her heel, her green satin gown rustling angrily as she fled up the stairs in disgrace.

Charles turned back to his daughter, gently wiping the tears from her face. He promised her that she would never have to cry or kneel in her own home again. Together, they walked away from the wet marble floor, leaving the shadows of the past behind them as they began to heal. True wealth is not measured by the grandeur of a house, but by the love and protection we provide for those who call it home.
