The heavy doors of the SUVs swung open in unison. From the lead vehicle stepped Arthur Vance, Olivia’s father. A legendary real estate tycoon known for his ruthless business acumen, Arthur looked at his weeping daughter, and his eyes turned to ice. Behind him, three men in dark, tailored suits holding leather briefcases stepped out, their expressions grim and professional.

Richard’s smug expression faltered for a fraction of a second before he forced an arrogant laugh. He walked down the stone steps, Sarah clinging tightly to his arm.

"Arthur," Richard said, trying to sound commanding. "You’re trespassing on my private property. Olivia signed the prenup. She walks away with nothing, and this house is mine."

Arthur didn't even look at Richard. He walked straight to Olivia, wrapping his heavy wool coat around her shoulders and kissing her forehead. "I've got you, sweetheart," he murmured softly, before turning to face his former son-in-law.

One of the lawyers stepped forward, unzipping a leather portfolio and pulling out a thick stack of documents. Arthur took them and held them up, his voice dripping with absolute authority.

"You always were a terrible businessman, Richard," Arthur said calmly. "You thought you bought this mansion through your shell corporation, didn't you? If you had bothered to read the underlying land lease and the primary mortgage clauses, you would have realized who actually owns the debt on this entire estate."

Richard’s face paled. Sarah looked between the two men, her grip on Richard’s arm loosening. The lawyer cleared his throat, reading aloud the foreclosure and immediate eviction notice. The very company that funded Richard's business ventures was a subsidiary of Vance Enterprises, and Richard had just defaulted on his primary loan agreement.
