Previously: When Arthur’s golden retriever leaped into his casket and began barking at the sky, the mourners were shocked. But the dog’s bizarre behavior was actually a desperate attempt to expose a killer.

A Voice from Beyond

The cemetery grew deathly quiet as Arthur's recorded voice continued to play, cutting through the chilling twilight like a knife.

"My doctor called it congestive heart failure, but I knew my strength was being stolen. I trained Buster to recognize the sweet, chemical scent of the digitalis drops being slipped into my daily medicine. I changed my will last week. My entire estate goes to Clara—but only if Buster identifies my killer at this very service."

The revelation hung heavily in the freezing air. Suddenly, Buster’s demeanor changed. He leaped out of the casket, his paws hitting the damp grass with a heavy thud. He didn't look at Clara, nor did he look at Richard. Instead, the golden retriever locked his gaze onto Thomas. With a ferocious snarl, Buster charged, barking madly and snapping at the nephew's wool coat.

Thomas stumbled backward, tripping over a gravestone and falling onto the cold earth. "Keep that beast away from me!" he shrieked, his face pale with terror. "I only did it because he was going to leave me nothing! He deserved it!"

The confession slipped from his lips before he could stop it. Richard immediately pulled out his phone to call the authorities, while Clara stood frozen, the agonizing truth finally sinking in. Her cousin, whom her father had supported for years, had betrayed them all for greed. Within minutes, the flashing red and blue lights of police cruisers illuminated the dark cemetery gates, taking Thomas away in handcuffs.

As the chaos subsided, Clara knelt in the damp grass and wrapped her arms around Buster, burying her face in his golden fur. The dog let out a soft, comforting whimper, finally at peace. Arthur’s estate was saved, but more importantly, justice had been served. True loyalty cannot be bought, and sometimes, the most silent witnesses possess the loudest voices of truth.
