The Veteran's Response

Vivian Beaumont, accustomed to cowering subordinates and sycophantic admirers, found himself utterly disarmed by the silent, imposing presence of Thomas Wright. The casual arrogance that had served him so well moments before evaporated instantly, replaced by a flicker of unease as he finally registered the sheer physical power radiating from the older man. Thomas’s grizzled buzzcut and the faint scars that mapped his jaw spoke of a life far removed from the pampered existence Vivian knew. He stood a head taller than Vivian, his broad shoulders filling the space, his hands, scarred and calloused, now clenched into fists that threatened to split his knuckles. Vivian’s smirk faltered, his Adam’s apple bobbing as he tried to regain his composure, but the raw, unyielding discipline in Thomas’s eyes was a language he didn’t understand. He attempted a flippant remark, but the words died on his lips as Thomas moved. With surprising speed for his size, Thomas’s massive left hand clamped onto Vivian’s lapels, the grip like a vice. He effortlessly hoisted the younger man a few inches off his heels, the expensive silk of Vivian’s blazer straining under the immense pressure. Vivian’s face contorted in a mask of sheer, unadulterated terror. The smugness was gone, replaced by the wide-eyed panic of a cornered animal. Cold sweat beaded on his powdered forehead.

Thomas Wright: "You just struck a soldier's son. Now pay your toll."

The gravelly, bone-chilling calm of Thomas’s voice was more terrifying than any shout. It was the sound of absolute certainty, of a promise delivered without flourish. Vivian’s pupils dilated, his body trembling uncontrollably. He opened his mouth to protest, to plead, but no sound emerged. He was trapped, helpless, hoisted by the very privilege that had emboldened him moments before. Thomas held him there for a beat, letting the fear fully consume the pampered heir. Then, with explosive biomechanical precision honed by years of combat, he coiled his powerful frame. His hips rotated, his shoulder drove forward, and his open palm struck Vivian squarely in the sternum. The impact was devastating. A sonic kinetic shockwave reverberated through the showroom. Vivian’s horn buttons burst from his blazer as displaced air rippled the fabric. His entire body launched backward, a helpless projectile hurled ten feet across the showroom. He crashed and skidded along the slick obsidian floor, coming to a jarring halt against the rear wheel of a gleaming crimson supercar with a sickening, hollow metallic thud. He lay there, gasping, clutching his bruised chest, his eyes rolling white in a haze of agonizing defeat. Samuel, still on the floor, looked up at his father, a mixture of pain and reverence on his face. Thomas stood over the fallen heir, his voice resonating with absolute, commanding authority.
