Vincent took the heavy golden chalice from the priest's trembling hands. The dark wine sloshed against the rim. He looked directly into King George’s eyes, forcing a calm smile onto his face. Instead of raising the cup to his own lips, Vincent took a step toward the tyrant.

"Your Majesty, in my province, we have an ancient wedding custom,"

Vincent announced, his voice carrying clearly to every corner of the silent cathedral.

"To prove there is no malice between our houses, the father of the bride must take the first sip from the groom’s chalice. Only then may the groom drink."

A murmur ran through the noble guests. King George’s smile froze. His eyes darted to the poisoned wine, then to the watching crowd. To refuse would be a public admission of treachery in front of the entire kingdom's nobility. The King laughed nervously, trying to brush it off.

"We are in my kingdom now, boy. Drink your wine."

But Vincent stood his ground, raising the cup higher.

"Surely the great King George does not fear a simple gesture of peace? Unless, of course, the wine is unfit for a king."

Cornered by his own pride and the watchful eyes of his court, King George snatched the chalice from Vincent's hand, intending to fake a sip. But Vincent’s hand "accidently" bumped the King's arm, forcing a large gulp of the poisoned wine down the monarch's throat. Within seconds, the King gasped, clutching his throat as his face turned a sickly pale. He collapsed onto the altar steps, paralyzed by his own poison.

In the chaos, Vincent grabbed the key, unlocked the barrel, and pulled Clara free. The guards, realizing their master was defeated by his own hand, did not interfere. Vincent exposed the King's plot to the court, and with the tyrant incapacitated, the people rallied behind the brave prince and his true love.
