Zachary paused, his hand hovering over the cold brass doorknob. He turned back slowly, his eyes narrowing in confusion. "A private investigator? What is this, Stephanie? Why would you hire an investigator?" Stephanie ran to him, her eyes streaming with tears as she grabbed his hands. Her grip was tight and desperate. "I had to, Zachary. I did it for you. It’s about your father," she sobbed.

Arthur was actually your stepfather, who stole your mother's savings and fled. Your real father is a man named Thomas Vance, a retired philanthropist. He has been searching for you for twenty-five years."

Zachary’s head spun as Brian explained the shocking truth. Stephanie had discovered a hidden letter from Zachary's late mother, hinting at the truth. She had spent the last six months and her entire savings hiring Brian to trace Zachary's real heritage. Brian had finally found the medical records and DNA evidence just hours ago.
