Jack smiled warmly, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "Yes, ma'am, I am," he said, removing his sunglasses. "My name is Jack. I've spent a very long time trying to find you."

Clara was flattered but deeply puzzled. She invited him to sit with her on the porch swing. As they sat, Clara couldn't help but sigh, the weight of her own current struggles pressing down on her.
