Previously: When a tattered teenage boy walked into Arthur’s penthouse claiming he could heal his paralysis in seconds, the billionaire laughed—until a miracle happened and a dark family secret emerged.

The Shadow of Deceit

Arthur stood tall, his feet firmly planted on the cold marble floor. Tears welled in his eyes as he took a tentative step forward, then another. The impossible had happened. The wheelchair that had bound him for two decades was suddenly obsolete. He looked down at the boy, his heart hammering against his ribs.

"Who are you?" Arthur breathed, his voice cracking with emotion. "What did you do to me?"

The boy stood up, his face solemn.

"My name is Leo," he said, pulling a worn, yellowed photograph from his pocket. "And I didn't perform a miracle. I just stopped the poison."

Before Arthur could process the words, the elevator doors chimed. His younger brother, Thomas, stepped into the penthouse, holding a stack of legal documents. Thomas stopped dead in his tracks, his face turning an ash-gray as he saw Arthur standing on his own two feet.

"Arthur? You're... you're walking?" Thomas stammered, his eyes darting frantically to the shattered glass on the floor.

Leo turned to face Thomas, his eyes burning with years of suppressed anger.

"He is walking because I knocked the glass of poisoned wine out of his hand, Uncle Thomas," Leo said coldly.

Arthur gasped, looking from the boy to his brother. Thomas had been managing Arthur's estate and personal care for twenty years. He was the one who personally imported the specific red wine Arthur drank every single night.

"What is the meaning of this?" Arthur demanded, a terrible suspicion blooming in his chest. "Thomas, what is he talking about?"

Thomas tried to recover his composure, pointing an angry finger at Leo.

"Arthur, don't listen to this street rat! He's an impostor! I have your medical files right here. Your spine was severed! This is some kind of trick!"

But Leo stepped forward, tossing a medical report of his own onto the table.

"It wasn't the accident that kept you paralyzed, Father. It was the daily dose of neurotoxin Thomas has been slipping into your wine for twenty years."
