Previously: When wealthy businessman George tries to kick a dirty street musician out of his exclusive charity gala, a faded photograph reveals a shocking, long-buried secret that changes everything.

The revelation hit George like a physical blow. The security guards hesitated, waiting for his command to drag the boy away, but George raised a trembling hand to stop them. He looked from the faded photograph to the young man’s face. Now that he was truly looking, the resemblance was undeniable. The boy had Evelyn’s striking green eyes and George’s own sharp jawline. George’s mind raced back to his youth, before he had abandoned his small-town life and the woman he loved to pursue a ruthless corporate career in the city.

The Confrontation Behind Closed Doors

Without a word to his bewildered guests, George grabbed the boy’s arm and led him quickly away from the courtyard, steering him into the quiet sanctuary of his private study. He locked the heavy oak door, shutting out the murmurs of the gala. The boy, whose name was Ethan, stood awkwardly in the middle of the luxurious room, looking at the leather-bound books and expensive art with a sense of profound discomfort.

"Your mother... Evelyn," George stammered, his voice losing its usual authority. "Where is she? Why did she send you here?"

Ethan wiped a tear from his cheek, his posture stiffening.

"She didn't send me," Ethan said bitterly. "She’s in a county hospital. She has severe pneumonia, and we were evicted from our apartment last week. I found that photo in her old keepsake box. I forced her to tell me who my father was because we had nowhere else to turn."

George’s initial shock began to warp into defensive suspicion. Years in the brutal business world had taught him to trust no one. He wondered if this was a calculated play to extort his millions.

"Is this a setup?" George demanded, his eyes narrowing. "Did she send you to crash my event and blackmail me for money?"

Ethan stared at him, his grief instantly transforming into pure disgust.

"She swore she would never ask you for a single dime," Ethan spat, stepping toward the door. "She told me you chose your money over us. I see she was right. I shouldn't have come."

I see she was right. I shouldn't have come."
