The Miracle at the Penthouse

The glittering skyline of Manhattan stretched out beyond the floor-to-ceiling windows of the exclusive penthouse restaurant, but Richard felt none of its beauty. For five long years, the billionaire had been confined to a customized wheelchair, the victim of a devastating car crash that had stolen his mobility and his zest for life. Beside him sat his younger brother and business partner, Julian, who was busy swirling a glass of expensive vintage wine.

Suddenly, a shadow fell over their table. Richard looked up to see a boy, no older than ten, wearing tattered, dirt-streaked clothes that contrasted sharply with the restaurant's opulent decor. The child’s eyes held an ancient, solemn intensity.

"Sir," the boy said softly.

Richard smiled skeptically, amused by the child's presence in such a secure venue.

"You?" Richard murmured.

The boy looked down at Richard's lifeless legs, completely ignoring Julian's disgusted glare.

"I can fix your leg," the boy whispered.

Richard chuckled, taking a slow sip of his own wine. He had spent millions of dollars on the world's finest neurosurgeons, all of whom had declared his condition permanent.

"How long?" Richard asked, his voice dripping with amusement.

"A few seconds," the boy replied without hesitation.

Richard laughed, shaking his head. "I'll give you a million," he promised mockingly.

Without a word, the boy knelt on the cold marble floor. He gently touched Richard's bare foot, which had slipped out of his loafer.

"Count," the boy commanded.

Richard scoffed, looking around at the whispering diners.

"This is ridiculous," Richard muttered.

But as the boy's fingers pressed against his toes, a sudden, electric warmth surged up Richard's spine.

"One, two. Stand up," the boy said.

Richard's expression froze in absolute shock. For the first time in half a decade, he felt his muscles contract. Slowly, miraculously, he pushed himself up. He stood. Nearby, a startled waiter dropped a tray, and a crystal glass shattered loudly on the floor.
