Previously: When a wealthy businessman recognizes the elderly waitress serving his table, a long-forgotten act of kindness from a rainy alleyway resurfaces, changing both of their lives forever.

The Tyrant Intervenes

Before Edward could finish his sentence, the heavy wooden doors of the kitchen swung open. Marcus, the restaurant’s notorious general manager, strode toward the table with an expression of pure disdain. Marcus was a man who valued prestige above humanity, and he had spent months looking for an excuse to rid his high-end establishment of the aging Beatrice.

Marcus grabbed Beatrice roughly by the shoulder, pulling her away from Edward. He sneered, his voice dripping with condescension as he addressed her in front of the entire dining room.

"What do you think you are doing, Beatrice? You are bothering our most prestigious guests with your pathetic sob stories. Pack your things immediately. You are fired!"

A collective gasp whispered through the restaurant. Beatrice lowered her head, her shoulders slumping as tears of humiliation spilled down her wrinkled cheeks. She turned to leave, accustomed to being discarded by a world that had rarely shown her mercy. But she didn't get far. Edward’s voice cut through the room like a crack of thunder.

"Take your hands off her," Edward commanded, his voice cold and terrifyingly calm.

Marcus scoffed, adjusting his silk tie. "Sir, I apologize for her incompetence. We do not tolerate street-level behavior in a five-star establishment. I will personally handle your service."

Edward stepped forward, his imposing stature eclipsing the arrogant manager. He looked at the business associates sitting at his table, who were watching the scene unfold in stunned silence. Edward then turned his gaze back to Marcus, a slow, dangerous smile spreading across his face.

"You don't understand, Marcus," Edward said, his voice echoing off the mahogany walls. "I didn't come here tonight just to have dinner. I came to finalize a transaction. As of four o'clock this afternoon, I purchased this entire establishment. I am your new employer."
