Previously: At his daughter's rainy funeral, a grieving father is stopped by a young boy who makes a chilling claim: the girl isn't dead, and his wife is behind it.

The Awful Truth Beneath the Lid

A collective gasp echoed through the rainy graveyard. Eleanor stepped forward, her voice high and frantic.

"Richard, this is madness! You're listening to a dirty street urchin over the doctors? This is desecration! Please, let our sweet Lily rest in peace!"
Her hands were shaking violently as she grabbed Richard’s sleeve, trying to pull him away from the casket.

But the doubt had already taken root. Richard shook her off, his eyes cold and fixed on the white wooden box.

"Open it,"
he repeated, his voice dropping to a dangerous, quiet growl.

The cemetery workers hesitated for a fraction of a second before scrambling to obey. With heavy tools, they began to unscrew the heavy lid. Each turn of the metal felt like an eternity, the screeching sound slicing through the tense silence. Eleanor took a step back, her eyes wide with a mixture of rage and absolute panic. She looked around, as if calculating her chances of running, but the security guards, sensing something was deeply wrong, quietly stepped into her path.

With a heavy thud, the lid was lifted. Richard lunged forward, his breath catching in his throat. Inside the satin-lined coffin lay Lily, looking like a sleeping angel in her favorite white dress. Her skin was pale, but as Richard stared, his heart leaped into his throat.

There, on the glass-like surface of a small pendant resting on her chest, was a faint, barely visible mist of condensation.

"She’s breathing!"

Richard screamed, his voice cracking. He reached in, pressing his fingers desperately against Lily's neck. Beneath the cold skin, there was a faint, agonizingly slow, but unmistakable pulse.

"My baby is alive! Call an ambulance! Now!"

Chaos erupted. Guests screamed, phones were pulled out, and Eleanor made a desperate dash toward the cemetery gates. But before she could take ten steps, the guards tackled her to the muddy ground. She shrieked, her elegant facade completely shattered, her face covered in mud.
