Previously: When a starving nine-year-old girl begged to play a grand piano for a plate of food, a wealthy host laughed her off—until her first notes revealed a devastating family secret.

A Shocking Revelation

The girl’s voice was barely a whisper, yet it echoed like thunder in Edward's ears.

"Her name is Sarah Vance. She told me she used to live in this big house before she had to leave."

Edward felt the room spin. The glass in his hand slipped, shattering on the marble floor and splashing champagne across his polished shoes. The crowd murmured in confusion, but Edward could only stare at the young girl. Her eyes—they were the exact shade of deep, forest green as his sister’s. This starving, neglected child was his niece.

Before Edward could speak, his father, Arthur Vance, pushed through the crowd. The elderly patriarch's face was contorted in a mask of cold fury. Ten years ago, Arthur had ruthlessly disowned Sarah for marrying a man he deemed beneath their social status, erasing her from the family history. Seeing the girl, Arthur’s eyes narrowed with venom.

"This is an outrageous scam!" Arthur boomed, his voice silencing the room. "My daughter is long gone. This child is an imposter sent by grifters to embarrass our family. Security, throw this street rat out into the cold immediately!"

Two burly guards stepped forward, grabbing the crying girl by her thin arms. Emily sobbed, pulling away.

"No! Please! My mommy is very sick! She's in the old warehouse by the docks! She told me to play the song if we had no food left!"

Edward stood paralyzed. Arthur leaned in, whispering fiercely in Edward's ear. "If you defend this street brat, I will disown you tonight. You will lose your inheritance, your position, and your name. Choose wisely, Edward."

As the guards dragged Emily toward the heavy oak doors, she struggled, and a small, tarnished silver locket broke from her neck, clattering to the floor. It popped open right at Edward's feet. Inside was a tiny, faded photograph of two children laughing in this very garden: Edward and Sarah.
