Previously: When a tattered young stranger approached Victor in a luxury restaurant and promised to heal his paralyzed legs, Victor laughed—until a three-second miracle changed everything, revealing a shocking past connection.

The Price of a Miracle

A violent jolt of energy shot up Victor's spine, forcing a sharp gasp from his lungs. The wine glass slipped from his fingers, shattering on the floor in a splash of crimson. But Victor barely noticed. Slowly, miraculously, he stood up. He pushed back from his wheelchair, balancing on his own two feet for the first time in half a decade. The restaurant erupted into a chorus of gasps; phones buzzed as onlookers recorded the impossible event. Victor took a tentative step forward, then another, his legs feeling stronger and more vibrant than they ever had before the crash.

Tears of disbelief welled in Victor's eyes as he looked down at the young man who had just performed the impossible. "Who are you?" Victor breathed, his voice trembling. "How did you do this?"

The tattered youth stood up slowly, but there was no joy in his expression. Only a deep, agonizing sorrow. "My name is Dylan," the boy said quietly, his voice cutting through the stunned silence of the room. "And you don't remember me, do you, Victor? We met five years ago. On the night you lost the use of your legs."

Victor’s heart skipped a beat as a cold dread washed over him. The memories of that rainy night flooded back—the screeching tires, the impact, and the terrifying realization that he had hit someone before fleeing into the darkness to protect his reputation and empire.

"You hit a woman on the highway," Dylan whispered, tears streaming down his face. "You ran away like a coward. That woman was my mother. She died because you didn't stop."

The crowd gasped. Victor stumbled back, his newly healed legs shaking. Dylan continued, "I inherited her gift. I can heal, but it comes at a price. I must take the physical burden of the one I heal. Look at me, Victor." As Dylan spoke, his own legs buckled, and he collapsed to the floor, paralyzed.
