Previously: When homeless Ethan gave his only coat to a freezing elderly woman under a concrete bridge, he had no idea she was the missing mother of a wealthy tycoon.

An Unexpected Connection

David immediately signaled his security team, who stepped forward with thick, insulated blankets to wrap around Helen. As they carefully lifted her to carry her to a waiting warm SUV, David turned his attention to Ethan. The young man was now curled into a ball, his teeth chattering so loudly they could be heard over the howling wind. David looked from the shivering youth to the heavy coat his mother was wearing, realizing the immense sacrifice this stranger had just made.

"You gave her your coat," David said, his voice thick with emotion. "You would have frozen to death out here just to keep a stranger warm. Who are you?"
"My name is... Ethan," the young man stammered, his body shaking as he tried to stand up. "Ethan Vance."

As Ethan struggled to find his footing, a small, water-damaged leather wallet slipped from his pocket and fell onto the snow, spilling its contents. David reached down to retrieve it. Among the few damp cards was a faded, folded photograph. David smoothed it out, and as his eyes focused on the image, his breath caught in his throat. It was a photo of a young man smiling alongside a younger version of David himself.

"Marcus?" David whispered, his eyes widening in disbelief. He looked up at Ethan, searching the boy's face. "Is Marcus Vance your father?"

Ethan nodded slowly, confused. "Yes. He passed away five years ago, after his business collapsed. My mother and I lost everything... and after she got sick, I ended up here."

David fell back on his knees, overwhelmed by a wave of shock and grief. Marcus had been his college roommate and his first business partner. Years ago, a bitter misunderstanding had driven them apart, and David had never known that Marcus's family had fallen on such tragic times. Now, Marcus's son had just saved David's mother from freezing to death on the streets.
