Previously: When an angry woman attacked his pregnant wife in a hospital hallway, David stepped in to protect her. But the attacker's screaming revelation shattered his world forever.

The Devastating Truth Unveiled

The hospital corridor remained tense as a security guard rushed to restrain Vanessa. She struggled against the guard's grip, her face contorted with bitter hatred. David glared at his sister, his arms still wrapped protectively around Claire.

"Have you completely lost your mind, Vanessa?" David spat, his voice trembling with rage. "She is pregnant! You could have killed our baby!"

Vanessa let out a cold, hysterical laugh that sent shivers down the nurse's spine. She pointed a trembling finger at Claire, who was suddenly looking incredibly pale.

"Our baby? Oh, David, you pathetic fool!" Vanessa screamed. "She has been playing you for a year! I found the medical records in Dad's old filing cabinet last night. You had severe mumps as a teenager, David. You are completely sterile! That child isn't yours!"

A suffocating silence fell over the hallway. The nurse stopped in her tracks, looking away awkwardly. David froze, his muscles tensing. Slowly, he looked down at Claire, searching her face for a denial.

Claire’s eyes dinned frantically around the room. The tears of pain had turned into tears of sheer panic. She clutched at David’s grey suit jacket, her voice rising to a frantic pitch.

"David, no! She is lying! You know she has always hated me!" Claire stammered, her voice shaking. "She's trying to destroy our family! Please, tell me you don't believe her!"

But David’s warm, protective demeanor vanished, replaced by a chilling, stony silence. He slowly peeled Claire’s fingers off his jacket and stood up, stepping back from her. The realization hit him like a physical blow. He looked at his wife, seeing her guilt written all over her terrified face.
