Previously: When Sophia's husband turned on her outside their estate, a mysterious older man stepped in to protect her, revealing a shocking truth that changed their lives forever.

A Shocking Confrontation

James straightened his suit, his face flushed with anger. He glared at the older man who had dared to interfere.

"Who the hell do you think you are?"
James spat, stepping forward aggressively.
"This is private property, and that is my wife. Get your hands off her before I have you arrested for trespassing!"

Richard slowly stood up, keeping himself positioned firmly between James and the trembling Sophia. Despite his age, Richard possessed an imposing presence that made James hesitate.

"Go ahead, call the police, James,"
Richard said, his voice deadly calm.
"I would love nothing more than to have the authorities here to look at the offshore accounts you've been opening under Sophia's name."

James froze, the color draining from his face.

"How... how do you know about that?"
he stammered, his bravado instantly evaporating. He had spent months meticulously planning to drain Sophia's inheritance, believing her deceased father had left her completely unprotected. He thought she had no family left to look out for her.

Sophia looked up from the ground, her eyes wide with confusion.

"Richard? How do you know my husband? And how do you know about my father's estate?"
she asked, her voice trembling. She had only met Richard once before, briefly, at her father's funeral, where he had introduced himself merely as an old business associate.

Richard turned his head slightly, offering Sophia a gentle, reassuring smile.

"Your father, Arthur, was my dearest friend, Sophia. But our bond went much deeper than business,"
Richard explained, his eyes softening. He then turned back to James, his expression hardening once more.
"Arthur knew what kind of man you were, James. He suspected your greed long before he passed. That is why he appointed me as the sole trustee of Sophia's inheritance. You cannot touch a single dime without my signature."
