The Clash in the Blue Tiles

The fluorescent lights of Oak Creek High’s second-floor restroom flickered with a low, menacing hum. For months, Sarah had tried to blend into the background, wearing her oversized grey school uniform like protective armor. But today, her quiet demeanor had failed her. Cornered against the cold, blue-tiled walls, she found herself trapped by Chloe, the school's undisputed queen bee, and her two loyal sidekicks, Jessica and Mia.

Jessica and Mia held Sarah’s arms pinned back, their grips tight and unforgiving. Chloe stepped forward, a cruel, triumphant smile plastered across her face. In her hand, she brandished a tube of cheap, blood-red lipstick like a weapon.

"Now everyone will know what you are," Chloe whispered maliciously.

With a slow, deliberate stroke, Chloe pressed the lipstick against Sarah’s forehead, drawing a messy, humiliating mark. Sarah closed her eyes. She wasn't closing them out of fear, but to summon the calm her father had taught her during years of grueling, early-morning training at their family’s traditional martial arts dojo. She had promised him she would never use her skills for violence, but survival demanded an exception.

With an explosive, sudden spin, Sarah broke free from the two girls holding her. In a swift, blinding flurry of blocks and precise strikes, she sent Jessica and Mia sprawling to the tiled floor. Before Chloe could even gasp, Sarah swept her legs, sending the bully crashing down next to her friends.

Sarah stood defiantly over them, her breathing steady. Slowly, she knelt beside a dazed, trembling Chloe. Snatching the fallen red lipstick, Sarah leaned in close and drew a bold, crimson cross directly onto Chloe’s forehead.

"You wrote the wrong name," Sarah said coldly, her voice echoing in the silent restroom.
