How an Underestimated Schoolgirl Turned the Tables on Her Cruel Bullies
The Restroom Trap
The retro green-tiled walls of Oakridge High's oldest restroom felt like a cage. Emily backed up until her heels hit the cold porcelain of the sinks. She was cornered. Ashley, wearing her pristine varsity jacket like a badge of absolute authority, stepped forward with a malicious grin. Behind her, two of her loyal followers gripped Emily's arms, pinning her against the wall. The air smelled of cheap floral perfume and damp concrete, suffocating and tense.
Ashley pulled a tube of deep crimson lipstick from her pocket, uncapping it with a slow, deliberate click. She leaned in close, her strawberry-blonde hair brushing Emily's face. With a steady, cruel hand, Ashley began to draw on Emily's forehead, pressing the waxy red tip hard against her skin. Emily winced but didn't cry out.
"Now everyone will know what you are," Ashley whispered, her voice dripping with venom.
But Emily wasn't the weak girl they thought she was. She closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and let the fear dissolve into pure focus. In one explosive, fluid motion, Emily spun her body. The sudden momentum broke the grip of the two girls holding her. Using a swift flurry of blocks and strikes she had practiced for thousands of hours in her father's dojo, she sent all three bullies crashing to the tiled floor.
The restroom fell dead silent except for the groans of the fallen clique. Emily stood defiantly over them, her breathing steady. She knelt down next to a dazed and trembling Ashley, who was clutching her bruised shoulder. Reaching down, Emily snatched the red lipstick from the floor. With cold, absolute precision, she drew a bold cross right across Ashley's forehead.
"You wrote the wrong name," Emily said coldly, looking down at her defeated tormentor.
