The Quiet Storm

Clara didn’t run to a hotel, nor did she call the police immediately. She knew Julian’s influence in the city ran too deep; a simple domestic complaint would be swept under the rug by his high-priced lawyers. Instead, clad in her wine-stained silk dress, she drove straight to the office of Arthur Vance—Julian’s chief rival and a man who had been looking for a way to bring Julian down for years.

Arthur was shocked to see Clara at his office door at midnight, disheveled and shaking. But when she explained what had happened, his expression hardened. "I knew Julian was a beast, Clara, but this is monstrous," Arthur said, offering her a warm coat. "How can I help you?"

"I don't just want a divorce, Arthur," Clara whispered, her voice steady and cold. "I want to erase him. And I have the keys to his kingdom."

For the past three years, Clara had managed the household accounts, which meant she had secret access to Julian’s personal server. Sitting at Arthur’s desk, her fingers flew across the keyboard. Within an hour, she unearthed what Julian had spent years hiding: a massive trail of offshore accounts, systematic embezzlement, and evidence of insider trading that Marcus had helped orchestrate.

While they compiled the data, Clara’s phone lit up with furious text messages from Julian. "You embarrassed me in front of Marcus. You will pay for those glasses, Clara. Get back here now or I will lock you out of every account you have." Clara smiled grimly. He had no idea that she was about to lock him out of his entire life.
