Previously: When Clara’s husband hid her away from his high-society colleagues due to her wheelchair, she planned the ultimate payback at his company's grand annual gala.

The Unveiling of the Lies

As Julian remained on his knees, Clara signaled to the AV booth. Suddenly, the massive projector screen behind her flared to life. Instead of the corporate promotional video, it displayed a series of screenshots. The guests gasped as they read Julian’s emails to the board, claiming his wife was mentally incapacitated and unable to attend social events. Right next to those emails, Clara had projected her latest design awards, her active business registry, and a certified letter from her neurologist confirming her perfect cognitive health.

The murmurs in the ballroom turned into a roar of indignation. Julian’s colleagues, who had once praised his dedication, now looked at him with utter disgust. Julian scrambled to his feet, trying to salvage what was left of his reputation.

"This is a misunderstanding!" Julian shouted, his voice echoing frantically. "Clara, you're not well! Everyone, she's having an episode. I was only trying to protect her from the stress!"

But his lies no longer held any power. Clara’s best friend, Sarah, stepped forward from the crowd, handing Mr. Sterling a printed folder. Inside were financial records showing that Julian had been funneling Clara's disability insurance payouts and her design business earnings into a private offshore account, preparing to divorce her once he secured his partnership at the firm.

Mr. Sterling’s face turned red with anger. He looked at the documents, then up at Clara, and finally down at Julian, who stood frozen on the steps. The golden boy was completely exposed as a fraud, a thief, and a cruel manipulator.

"Is this true, Julian?" Mr. Sterling demanded, his voice booming through the silent ballroom. "Did you fabricate your wife's illness to steal her money and keep her hidden?"

Julian opened his mouth to lie, but no words came out. He looked around the room and saw only cold, judgmental stares. He had lost everything in a matter of minutes.

He had lost everything in a matter of minutes.
