Julian straightened his jacket, his breathing ragged as he stared at his father. "What are you doing, Dad?" he spat, his voice dripping with venom. "That woman is trying to ruin me! She’s trying to steal my legacy, and you're defending her? She’s nothing but a gold-digger!"
Clara shook her head violently, tears blurring her vision. "That's not true! I never wanted your money, Julian! I just wanted a family."
"Shut up!" Julian yelled, pointing a finger at her. "You think you can just have this baby and take half of my estate? I’ll make sure you end up on the streets, and I’ll take that child so you never see her again!"
Arthur stepped closer to his son, his eyes flashing with a cold, dangerous fire. "You won't touch either of them, Julian," he said quietly, his voice deadly calm. "In fact, you won't be taking anything at all. Because as of ten minutes ago, you have been completely stripped of your position at the firm, and you are officially disinherited."
Julian laughed nervously, though his face paled. "You can't do that. I'm your only son. The family fortune belongs to me."
"You ceased being my son the moment you raised your hand against a woman," Arthur replied, pulling a manila envelope from his breast pocket and tossing it onto the hospital bedside table. "And you certainly aren't my heir anymore. I know about the offshore accounts, Julian. I know about the fraud. And I know exactly what you did to Clara’s family to force her into this marriage." Clara looked up, stunned. She had married Julian under immense pressure after her family’s small business mysteriously collapsed. Julian had swooped in as a savior, but quickly turned into a monster.
