My Husband Auctioned Me for Ten Dollars but a Handsome Stranger Bid a Million
The Public Humiliation
The crystal chandeliers of the Grand Plaza ballroom cast a warm, golden glow over the high-society crowd, but for Evelyn, the air had suddenly turned ice-cold. She stood near the edge of the stage, her sparkling silver gown catching the light, reflecting the tears that were already beginning to well in her eyes. On stage stood her husband, Arthur. With his silver hair perfectly coiffed and his charcoal grey tuxedo immaculate, he looked every bit the successful philanthropist. But the sneer on his face revealed his true nature.
Holding the microphone tightly, Arthur looked out at the sea of wealthy guests. He pointed a mocking finger at Evelyn.
"Ten dollars for my useless wife," Arthur announced, his voice booming through the speakers. "Any bidders?"
A wave of hushed whispers and cruel snickers rippled through the audience. Evelyn felt her heart shatter. To be publicly auctioned off like a piece of cheap garbage was a humiliation she couldn't bear.
Suddenly, a voice cut through the murmurs from the back of the room.
"One million dollars."
The room fell dead silent. Heads whipped around to see Leo, a handsome young man with sandy blonde hair, standing tall at his table. He buttoned his dark navy suit jacket with calm, deliberate precision.
Arthur’s smug smile instantly froze. He stared at the young billionaire, completely bewildered.
"Excuse me?" Arthur stammered into the microphone. "Is this some kind of joke?"
Leo took a step forward, his gaze locked onto Evelyn, whose eyes were wide with shock.
"Not to buy her," Leo declared firmly, his voice echoing with absolute authority. "But to remind everyone in this room that she is absolutely priceless."
Evelyn gasped, a tear of relief escaping her eyes as she looked at this handsome stranger who had just saved her dignity.
