For a long moment, nobody dared to breathe. The tension in the ballroom was thick enough to cut with a knife. Arthur gripped the microphone so hard his knuckles turned white. He tried to force a laugh, attempting to play it off as a joke, but the cold determination in Leo's eyes stopped him cold.

"This is a private charity event, young man," Arthur stammered, his voice shaking. "You can't just make ridiculous scenes."

Leo didn't back down. He walked slowly toward the stage, the crowd parting for him like the Red Sea. "There is nothing ridiculous about exposing a bully," Leo replied calmly. He reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out a sleek leather folder, tossing it onto the podium in front of Arthur.

Arthur stared at the folder as if it were a venomous snake. Evelyn watched in confusion, wiping the tears from her face. Who was this man, and why was he defending her?

"What is this?" Arthur demanded, though his pale face betrayed his sudden terror.

"Those are the forensic audit reports of your company, Arthur," Leo announced, his voice carrying to every corner of the silent hall. "The company that belongs to Evelyn’s family. The company you have been systematically stripping of its assets to cover your personal gambling debts."

The crowd erupted into furious whispers. Evelyn felt her heart hammer against her ribs. For years, Arthur had convinced her that she was a burden, that her family's legacy was bankrupt, and that she was lucky he stayed with her. It was all a calculated lie.
