Previously: Julian returned home early to find his wife forcing an elderly maid to scrub stairs while carrying twin babies. But his wife had no idea who the maid really was.

A Final Reckoning

Victoria gasped, taking a step backward as the gravity of the revelation hit her. She looked at Margaret, no longer seeing a nameless servant, but the woman she had systematically humiliated for weeks. "Julian, I... I didn't know," Victoria stammered, her voice losing its icy composure. "If you had just told me, we could have worked something out. But hiring her under a fake name is deceitful!"

Julian shook his head, a bitter smile playing on his lips.

"You didn't need to know she was my mother to treat her like a human being, Victoria. Your cruelty today wasn't because of a secret. It was because of who you are at your core."

Without another word, Julian helped his mother remove the heavy baby carrier, cradling his sons gently in his arms. He looked at Victoria one last time, his decision final and absolute. "I want you out of this house by tonight," he said calmly. "My lawyer will contact you in the morning regarding the divorce. I will not raise my sons to believe that wealth gives them the right to trample on the dignity of others."

Victoria wept and pleaded, but her tears fell on deaf ears. Within weeks, the high-society circles she valued so much learned of her cruelty, and her reputation was ruined. Meanwhile, Julian sold the cold, hollow estate and moved into a charming, sunlit home closer to the city. Together with Margaret, who was finally able to be a grandmother without fear or shame, he raised his boys in an environment filled with warmth, respect, and unconditional love.

True wealth is not measured by the grandeur of one's home, but by the kindness and respect we show to those who help us build it.
