Previously: When Elena took her daughter to the beach, she never expected to see her late husband walk out of the water—especially with a tattoo of her own face on his chest.

When Elena reached the man, she threw her arms around his neck, sobbing uncontrollably. The familiar scent of ocean salt and cedarwood filled her senses. It was him. He was warm, real, and alive. But as she clung to him, she felt no reciprocating embrace. Instead, strong hands gently but firmly pushed her back.

A Stranger’s Eyes

Elena looked up into his eyes, expecting to see the warmth of the man she had loved. Instead, she was met with a blank, polite confusion.

"I'm sorry, ma'am,"
he said, his voice sending a shiver down her spine.
"Do I know you?"

Elena stumbled back, clutching Maya to her side.

"David, what are you saying? It's me, Elena! And this is your daughter, Maya!"

The man shook his head, looking down at the tattoo on his abdomen.

"My name is Thomas. I... I don't know who this tattoo is. I woke up in a clinic in Mexico three years ago with no memory of my life before. This was already on my skin."

Before Elena could process the shocking revelation, a beautiful woman in a white linen dress stepped out from the dunes, wrapping a possessive arm around his waist.

"Is everything alright, darling?"
she asked, casting a cold, calculating look at Elena.

Elena recognized the unspoken threat in the woman's eyes. This was Sarah, the daughter of a notorious, ultra-wealthy pharmaceutical mogul. As they hurried away to a waiting luxury SUV, Elena knew she couldn't let them disappear. She memorized the license plate and immediately called her brother, Mark, a private investigator.

Hours later, Mark called back, his voice trembling.

"Elena, the boating accident four years ago was a setup. The police were paid off. David was targeted because of his genius-level research in biotechnology. Sarah's family kidnapped him, used experimental drugs to wipe his memory, and rebranded him as 'Thomas' to control his mind and his patents."

Armed with the address of their heavily guarded coastal estate, Elena knew she had to act. That night, she slipped past the perimeter security, creeping up to the glass patio doors. Inside, she saw David sitting listlessly at a table. Sarah stood over him, holding a syringe filled with a clear liquid—the maintenance drug to keep his memories locked away forever.
