My Husband Handed Me a Divorce Folder in the Hospital, Unleashing a Hidden Storm
Previously: When Natalie's husband handed her a "DIVORCE" folder in her hospital room, she thought it was just a playful joke. But moments later, his mother arrived with real papers and a cruel ultimatum.
The Price of Freedom
For a long, agonizing moment, the silence in the room was deafening. Natalie watched as William slowly reached out and took the pen from his mother’s hand. Her heart shattered. Was he really going to abandon her to save his fortune?
William looked down at the papers, his hand steadying. He signed his name with a quick, decisive flourish. Eleanor let out a triumphant sigh, her eyes gleaming with victory.

"A wise choice, my boy," Eleanor said, reaching for the papers. "You always had a bright future ahead of you."
But William didn't hand them back. Instead, he slowly ripped the documents in half, then in quarters, tossing the shredded pieces onto the floor at his mother's feet.
"What are you doing?!" Eleanor gasped, her face flushing with rage.
William looked his mother dead in the eye, his voice calm and resolute.
"I signed those papers to show you exactly what I think of your family legacy. I’m done, Mother. I am officially renouncing my inheritance and severing all ties with you."
Eleanor sneered, though a flicker of panic crossed her eyes.
"You fool! You've just signed her death warrant! How are you going to pay for her treatment now?"
William reached into his pocket and pulled out a single sheet of paper, handing it to Eleanor.
"Two weeks ago, I finalized the sale of my software startup to a major tech firm. The acquisition went through this morning. The funds are already in our personal account—more than enough to cover Natalie’s treatments, our mortgage, and anything else we will ever need. We don't need your money, and we certainly don't need you."
Eleanor stared at the document, her face turning pale as she realized she had lost all leverage. Without another word, she turned on her heel and stormed out of the room, her lawyer scurrying behind her.
William turned back to Natalie, a genuine smile returning to his face. He climbed onto the bed and held her tight, whispering that they were finally free. Through her tears, Natalie realized that love hadn't just survived the storm—it had completely conquered it.
